keep her busy with their activities of retrieving, Pet Therapy,
and tracking.
Dog Dynamics serves the Triangle area of Raleigh,
Durham, Cary, Wake Forest, Chapel Hill & surrounding suburbs.
For dog owners in need of assistance outside of Joanne’s
travel area, the possibility of phone consultations and guidance
are available.
Joanne has been active in
many facets of dog training over the years. Here are some of
her activities and accomplishments.
She has worked with multiple Humane Societies in different
parts of the country both as a volunteer caregiver for the shelter
dogs, and as a professional trainer resolving behavior issues.
Pet Therapy programs have been an important part of
Joanne’s personal repertoire. She has worked in Pet Therapy
programs through shelters as well as training one of her own
dogs to be a Certified Pet Therapy animal.
The team partnership between a blind person and a guide
dog has always pulled at Joanne’s heartstrings. She was
determined to make a contribution to this cause. She became a
foster raiser and trainer for guide dog puppies while living
in Upstate New York.
Joanne’s ownership of Labrador Retrievers for
the last 24 years led her to becoming a Field Trial competitor.
One of her proudest moments in this arena was taking 1 st place
in her very first Field Trial competition, as the only female
competitor among 42 man/dog teams. She accomplished this with
her yellow Lab named Charlie who was trained with positive techniques
rather than with the harsh corrections and shock collars employed
by most other trainers in this sport. Joanne holds multiple titles
in the Field Trial competition arena.
Joanne is a trained animal rescuer with the Emergency
Animal Rescue Service (EARS) division of United Animal Nations.
EARS volunteers are deployed to disaster areas to rescue and
care for stranded animals. Joanne’s last deployment was
in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana.
