heavily involved in the community volunteering to improve the welfare of dogs.
The Coalition to Unchain Dogs was founded in Durham, NC in 2006 and has since expanded to other cities throughout North Carolina. The Coalition is a non-profit, volunteer effort dedicated to improving the welfare of dogs living outdoors on chains. The Coalition has been building free fences for dogs in the Triangle area since March of 2007, providing free spay/neuter for every dog they build a fence for. As of January 2010, they have freed over 450 dogs from their chains locally, as well as inspiring the formation of similar fence-building groups all over the country.
